IAPS Finals Competition

2019-06-08

On Saturday, 8th June, the Glendower IAPS swimmers took part in the Finals of the IAPS competition. This is the most important and most competitive event of the year because only the best prep school swim squads from all over the country qualified for the finals. Only the top 20 swimmers out of over 160, can qualify for this event. After getting some much-needed rest from the residential trip, Glendower swimmers did amazingly well and a big well done to the year 5 medley relay team that came third and got a bronze medal (Mati, Alexia, Amelie and Ava). They were also placed 7th for their Front Crawl relay.

Although this is competition is based on individual performances, points are allocated to school. Mati, Alexia & Amelie also competed in individual events. Very well done to them!! Overall, in the U10 age category, the Glendower team were placed 5th out of 32 schools. Our Y6 front crawl relay team were placed 13th out of 35. I too competed in the 50m Backstroke individual event and received a silver medal for 2nd place.

With all the events completed and points from all age groups (U10-U13) allocated, the Glendower IAPS team were placed 10th out of 103 schools! This is a fantastic achievement and we should be very proud of our performances throughout the week.

I would like to thank Mrs Enness-Laporte and Miss Humble for their constant support throughout the year. We look forward to our two final events of the year, the ESSA finals this weekend in Sheffield and the London League finals on the 28th of June.
