Ben Nevis Climb

2019-06-21

On Friday, 21st June, my dad and I went to Scotland to climb Ben Nevis. This is the highest mountain in the British Isles at 1345 meters. We flew to Inverness and drove to Lock Ness. It was beautiful, calm and full of birds. We wild camped under a tarpaulin and roasted marshmallows over the fire. Then we went to sleep. It was really cold and the next morning we woke up at 5:00am.

We started climbing at 7:15am. It was steep, really rocky and very long. Eventually we arrived at the top and had a picnic lunch. Lots of other climbers suggested ‘Everest next?’ But, l’m not sure about that!! Maybe in a few years’ time. The whole walk took us 8 hours and 20 minutes and we had a celebration afternoon tea and washed in the mountain river when we got down. It was an awesome adventure – On Monday, I was still very tired and needed some energy to be able to tell all my friends about.
