The Lower School

As with the Upper School, the Lower school day begins at 8.30am when the school opens to welcome the girls. As a convenience for parents who wish to drop off their girls before this time we offer the option to leave them in the playground from 8:15am where they are supervised by two teaching assistants until the school opens. All girls are expected to be in school by 8:45am.

The Lower School attend school assemblies on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 8:50am and then they have their own assembly on Friday morning at 9:10am.

The morning is split into two parts with a playtime at 10:40am which lasts for 20 minutes. Throughout the morning the girls will focus primarily on the core curriculum subjects although it is quite possible that other subjects may also be covered. Lunch takes place between 12:00pm and 12:30pm, after which the girls go out into the playground for 45 minutes. Throughout both playtimes all girls are supervised by three adults which ensures that they are all observed and monitored at all times. The afternoon for The Lower School runs from 1:15pm until 3.30am and allows the girls to continue with a range of activities which usually includes curriculum areas such as art, music, PE and also further core curriculum studies where appropriate.

The girls are dismissed at 3:30pm when they shake hands with the member of staff on duty and are passed over to the adult nominated to collect them. Girls with sisters in the Upper School or siblings in other schools may remain in Sisters Club until they are dismissed with their sisters at 4pm.

The day can seem quite long when the girls first start with us, but we are always amazed at how quickly they adapt and how enthusiastic and excited they are as they come into school each morning!
