Charitable Status and Governors

Glendower School Trust is a registered charity no.312717. This means that we make an annual return to the Charities Commission detailing the school’s activities and accounts.

The Headmistress reports to the Governing body who are Trustees of the Charitable Trust. They leave the day to day running of the school in her hands but advise her, through committees, on finance, health and safety and risk.

There are usually ten or so governors drawn from many walks of life so that they make up a body of advice which is valuable to the Headmistress. There is a Chairman of Governors and a Chairman of the Finance Committee. There are always at least two parent governors on the board which meets once a term (as does the Finance Committee).

We currently have three parent governors, two heads of girls’ senior schools (one recently retired) one head of a boy’s prep school, two lawyers, a banker and a child psychologist. One governor is the nominated Child Protection Adviser and one the person who would consider any concerns which parents may have that remain unresolved through our Complaints Procedure.

The school has always been a not for profit organisation.
