The School Travel Plan:

Glendower is committed to promoting an environmentally friendly approach to travel to and from school and for this reason we have been part of Kensington and Chelsea’s School Travel Plan Scheme since September 2007. As part of our STP we have introduced a range of initiatives to help encourage parents and pupils to opt for green and sustainable alternatives to using the car. These initiatives include:

  • Establishing a “No Drop off/No Pick Up” Zone which extends along the school borders before and after school. The school provides its own traffic wardens to monitor the scheme each day.
  • Allowing parents to drop their girls off from 8:15am in the playground where they are supervised by classroom assistants. This enables parents to park for free in Residents Parking Bays.
  • Offering an after school “Sisters Club” between 3.30 and 4pm so that all siblings can be collected at the same time to ease parking problems.
  • aking part in the Walk On Weekdays Scheme – girls who either walk to and from home, arrive and leave by scooter or walk from outside a designated area are awarded badges on a monthly basis. The WOW is a national scheme which has proved to be extremely popular with the girls.

As a result of the commitment shown by parents and pupils the school has been awarded a Bronze Level for Sustainable travel two years running, an achievement we are very proud of.
