School Assemblies

Glendower places a good deal of importance in ensuring that the girls come together regularly to share their talents, perform as part of a group or learn something new from a visiting speaker.

Monday assemblies are usually given over to outside speakers. We regularly have talks from visitors of other faiths, helping girls to learn more about, for example, Christianity, Islam, Judaism or Hinduisim. We have also had interesting talks from charities that the school is supporting - these charities have included The TreeHouse School for children with Autism, Helen House Hospice and a Chelsea Pensioner.

On Tuesdays we hold music assemblies which are an opportunity for girls who are learning instruments (including the voice!) to perform to the school. This is a wonderful occasion which enables the audience to appreciate the amount of hard work and practice that goes into learning an instrument.

Wednesdays are reserved for our youngest pupils when we have our Early Years Assembly for girls in the Reception Classes. This is an opportunity to celebrate all the wonderful things that happen every day - we share work, talents and much more.

Thursdays are class assemblies, and each class provides an assembly performance each term. The girls love the opportunity to dress in costume and share their new knowledge with the rest of the school.

The final assembly of the week is The Lower School Assembly on Friday and is a chance to celebrate all the wonderful work achieved that week. Certificates are awarded for effort, kindness, progress and attainment. We also share examples of work for everyone to enjoy.

Each term ends with a special end of term assembly. At Christmas the choir and the orchestra set the scene for the holidays with carols and hymns. We finish the Spring Term with an Easter Bonnet Parade with girls in the Lower school parading their homemade bonnets for the school. The final assembly in the Summer Term is our Prizegiving Assembly when we award cups and prizes for girls who have achieved outstanding success during the year.
